I have Windows Home Server 2011 running on an HP Proliant Microserver. It works fine with Windows 7 and Windows XP, correctly backing up all the disks.
The connector installs successfully on my Windows 10 system, which runs on a 32-bit Acer Aspire 10 convertible. It detects the low space available on the Acer's 'hard drives', and reports the status of all the systems on my network, but it gives errors when I try to back up any of the disks. The Acer's C-drive is formatted NTFS, so shouldn't present difficulty. But WHS2011 won't back it up. Jenn-air range repair. This system disk is the only one I really care about backing up with WHS, as the D-drive is dedicated to OneDrive, so is stored in the cloud as well as being mirrored on a W7 machine that is being backed up successfully. Has anyone got a hint of how to get a fully-functioning WHS connector running on 32-bit Windows 10? ![]()

Yeah – I’m one of the nerds that used (and still does) Windows Home Server 2011. At the time, it was perfect for my Windows 7 and Windows 8 machines – especially with the automated client. Nov 19, 2015 I ran across an article somewhere, homeservershow.com possibly, which said if GPT is used for disks on a client then you cannot backup the client to Windows Home Server 2011 (and most disks are GPT now simply due to size, efficiency, UEFI, etc.).

I currently run 'My Movies'/Server Client on my WHS 2011. I use this setup as a central database for my movie collections and a way to stream movies to 2 - HTPCs, 1 - xBox, 2 - iPads. I don't use my WHS for client back-ups, etc. Since 'My Movies' uses Windows Media Center (WMC) and both WMC & WHS 2011 are no longer supported/strategic by Microsoft, as I move to a new Media Center solution (Kodi/Emby/Plex), I would also like to move my WHS 2011 to Windows 10.
What are the pro's & con's with using Windows 10 as a home server? Is there a way to do this where I can keep my current Shares (12 TBs on separate drives, OS on its own drive) in tact or do I have to start from scratch (hope not).
